Dyer’s Coreopsis – 50+ seeds

Description

A North American native, Dyer’s Coreopsis is a gorgeous, bee-attracting summer bloom that also gives you a bright orange to red-brown in the dye pot! These seeds are carefully saved from my own dye garden in Minnesota. I never use pesticides or herbicides and all seeds are hand collected and sorted. **These seeds were harvested in 2023 for 2024 season planting**

Coreopsis tinctoria (Dyer’s Coreopsis, Calliopsis, Golden Tickseed, Plains Coreopsis – so many names!!) is an annual that may reseed, but tends to stay where it is put. In my Minnesota garden I’ve found that reseeding is rare. I like to start the seeds in the soil after danger of frost is past, but you can also start seeds indoors. Once the feathery bright greens tops start blooming harvest the blooms and cut back the tops to encourage more flowering.

Use the flowers to make a bright orange dye, especially when using a slightly basic solution.
